Michael Dreishpoon Lawyer

Michael Dreishpoon has been practicing law in the New York metropolitan area for over 30 years. During that time, he has earned a reputation as a top-notch litigator who protects his clients’ rights and freedom.

Michael earned a Juris Doctorate degree from Hofstra University School of Law in 1990 and returns every year to teach a trial techniques class. Prior to law school, Michael earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from UCLA where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with honors and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. Currently Michael is a member of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, New York State Bar Association and Queens County Bar Association. In addition, he is a cardio-kickboxing instructor.

Michael is admitted to practice law in all of the state courts in New York, as well as the United States District Court in both the Eastern and Southern Districts. In addition, he was admitted to practice in the United States Supreme Court in 1999.

Over the years, Michael has achieved numerous victories on trials in Supreme Court and the lower criminal courts. On one notable Queens County case, Michael earned an acquittal for a young man facing 5 – 25 years in prison on an attempted murder charge. On an assault case in Suffolk County, a client bit someone’s ear completely off, but Michael won the trial by convincing the jury that his client acted in self-defense.

On a case in Manhattan that attracted a lot of media attention, Michael utilized his negotiation skills to avoid a trial for his 18 year old client charged with felony murder. Though she was facing 25 years to life in prison, Michael persuaded the D.A. to offer a 6 year sentence, thereby affording her a second chance at a normal life.

Michael also has had numerous trial victories on personal injury cases. On one motor vehicle accident case with herniated discs, Michael convinced a Queens jury to award $440,000. Most recently, Michael convinced a Supreme Court jury to award his client $214,375 on a motor vehicle accident case where Allstate had offered $50,000 pre-trial!

He also has utilized trial alternatives like arbitration and mediation to win clients large awards. For example, he obtained a 3.2 million dollar settlement for a severely injured motor vehicle accident victim, a 1 million dollar settlement for a client who fell off a ladder at work and convinced an arbitrator to award $175,000 to an elderly client bitten by a dog.
